Energy saving potential of a combined cooling ceiling and displacement ventilation system in hot and humid climate zones in summer
Tan Libao, Li Qiangmin
Based on the design and operation characteristics of the combined system in an office building in Shanghai, simulates the energy consumption of the system with rotary dehumidification during cooling season using the EnergyPlus software. To evaluate the system performance and energy saving potential, other three systems—the combined system with cooling dehumidification, mixing ventilation system and conventional displacement ventilation system with heat recovery devices—are simulated. The results indicate that the combined system with rotary dehumidification consumes less energy for cooling than that of the system with cooling dehumidification in hot and humid climate zones, and total energy costs can be reduced by about 30% compared with the mixing ventilation system during cooling season.
